The arts, in New Mexico public schools have been severely reduced and in some cases, eliminated. This is of great concern, because it is crucial to expose children to creativity, expression, imagination and original thinking at an early age. New Mexico is blessed with a culture of creativity that is not only a major legacy, but will allow us to thrive for generations to come. All funds raised through VA goes support arts, music, dance, theater and other artistic education programs. In 2011, our benefactors have had a tremendous impact impact on New Mexico children throughout the years, and we are happy to help support their efforts and successes.

ALBUQUERQUE MUSEUM FOUNDATION

The Albuquerque Museum Foundation supports  a variety of educational programs, most notably the The Magic Bus which offers free trips for Albuquerque Public School children in second through eighth grades, bringing them to The Albuquerque Museum of Art & History or Casa San Ysidro. Approximately 9,600 students participate in the interactive educational experiences related to art or history each school year, and special workshops are given for teachers on integrating Magic Bus trips with their school curriculum.

ALBUQUERQUE YOUTH SYMPHONY

The Albuquerque Youth Symphony was formed in 1955-56 as a collaborative project between the Albuquerque Public Schools and the University of New Mexico. Today the AYS consists of seven programs: Albuquerque Youth Symphony, Albuquerque Youth Orchestra, Albuquerque Junior Symphony, Albuquerque Junior Orchestra, Albuquerque Prelude String Orchestra, Albuquerque Junior Youth Band and the Albuquerque Junior String Orchestra. Approximately 500 to 600 students audition each May to become members of the program
